Here is what Joseph Smith said was the reason why Lucifer was kicked out of heaven.
The contention in heaven was--Jesus said there would be certain souls that would not be saved; and the Devil said he could save them all, and laid his plans before the grand council, who gave their vote in favour of Jesus Christ. So the Devil rose up in rebellion against God, and was cast down, with all who put up their heads for him.
Now If Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God, why did he teach something that both the Bible and the BoM do not teach, the BoM and the Bible agree with the idea of why Lucifer was cast out of Heaven. But we find a different story in the King Follet Discourse. And Joseph Smith even said, the BoM was the most correct book of all.
The Bible says about Lucifer being tossed out of Heaven
Isa 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! [how] art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
Isa 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
Isa 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
Isa 14:15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
Isa 14:16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, [and] consider thee, [saying, Is] this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
Isa 14:17 [That] made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; [that] opened not the house of his prisoners?
Isa 14:18 All the kings of the nations, [even] all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.
Isa 14:19 But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, [and as] the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet.
Isa 14:20 Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, [and] slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.
Now here is what the BoM teaches, Funny how it is almost word for word what the Bible teaches, I know many say that when Joseph Smith wrote the BoM he simply copied large portions of the Bible. I do believe he did that, but that is really hard to prove. Anyway, these two accounts do not line up with the war in heaven due to the plan of salvation theory.
11 Thy pomp is brought down to the grave; the noise of thy viols is not heard; the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.
12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! Art thou cut down to the ground, which did weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thy heart: a will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north;
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High.
15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and shall consider thee, and shall say: Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms?
17 And made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof, and opened not the house of his prisoners?
18 All the kings of the nations, yea, all of them, lie in glory, every one of them in his own house.
19 But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and the remnant of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcass trodden under feet.
So who can we trust, the Bible or Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith claims he translated the BoM, so why did he seem to forget what was taught and give a different story from the Bible in his sermon? Rick b

The words of Paul come to mind in Galatians 1:6-9 in the New Testament context, as a different and contrary gospel is preached by the accursed. In the context of the Hebrew Bible, Deuteronomy 13 comes to mind, where in verses 1-5, readers are told to purge the evil of the prophet or dreamer that tries to lead people to other gods.
