Ankerberg is correct that historical context and grammar determine Biblical meaning. This is not primarily a subjective study, but there are actual meanings to words and passages. The Lord reveals Scripture with the intention of it being understood properly and this is why education is important. A person can be guided by the Lord and educated in studying Scripture and this is very beneficial. A person can be an unbeliever and study Scripture in an educated manner, and a person can be a believer who does not know Scripture very well due to lack of education. A person can be an unbeliever and uneducated in approach to Scripture and this is quite spiritually dangerous.
